A Good Saturday
Yesterday was a good day, it was a very well rounded Saturday. We went running at DP and it went really easy and I totally smashed any previous record I had of running. I ran four miles non-stop. It was a little slow at times but that doesn't matter. Also I felt so great I could have kept going, at least cardiovascular-wise but my body was beginning to get a bit sore from the running. And after it was all said and done I felt so amazing, very huge exercise high.
Then we went for a walk with Dan and Chris at the beach. The beach at the end of Patterson that I believe is now for sale. It was beautiful and rewarding, it was a shame I forgot my camera, but the reality is, it's just like any beautiful walk you take in Goleta, I've just not been spoiled by it as much and so now my appreciation is even higher. The bluffs were green, the ocean was blue, you could make out features on the channel islands, the sun shone brilliantly across the water. All of the dirt and sand were a perfect moisture content, not to muddy but not dusty either perfect for walking on. Beautiful beautiful, beautiful.
But I think what I became enchanted with in the end, is being in nature and the changes, all of them are so larger than life. When you're inside or especially in LA (it's all inside down there) The coming of night is a formality, you turn on a light and if you are one concerned with fashion, determine if you're attire is acceptable for evening wear. In nature it's so much more significant than, even the different levels of sunset. We were enjoying the sunset but as soon as dusk hit we knew we'd better hit the road or we'd get eaten alive by mosquitoes. Of course the whole reason we lingered in the end is because we were watching the crows (thousands of them) fly to the west and Chris informed us that all of them fly every night to an area at the airport or in willow springs swamp where they spend the night in a big circle. He then informed us that in the end there is one crow that will fly back, calling for all the stragglers who will rise out of the ground and go join the rest of them and that this happens every night. Nature. What a concept.
To finish off this good Saturday because night isn't the end of the day for us we had a nice evening with friends complete with homemade dinner, spoons, and taiko drums.
